What Facility Managers Do

Facility management has really changed from the early days of industry. Today, Facility Managers are tasked with maintaining facilities at peak levels of performance whatever the circumstances. Got a natural disaster? Manage it. Cyber attack? Manage it. Modern facility management requires professionals to play an active role with the changing pace of the organization they support AND peripheral industry evolutions.

One thing the modern Facility Manager is, flexible. With all of the continuous change within companies and markets, facilities works side by side to enable the success of an enterprise. There's a need for facility managers to enable profitability and return on investment, so a long term strategy is essential. Strategic plans help organizations close the gap between facility design, construction, operations and maintainence.

For anyone working as a Facility Manager, you know is an often misunderstood and unappreciated role in the organization. The Xenon Group put together a video, "What Facility Managers Do", allowing Facility Managers to explain what they do on a daily basis.

Our favorite? "They are the soul of the building".

Xenon is still looking to hear from you, how you would describe the role of a facilities manager? Try fitting your answer into 140 characters on Twitter using the hashtag #WhatFMsDo. Here's the video:
