Super Bowl Power Outage Highlights The Importance of Back Up Planning

Posted by Jack Barry on Fri, Feb 15, 2013

If you are like most of us you watched the nation's big game with amazement as the lights went out at the Superdome.  The announcers were left speechless with no plan as to how to handle 20-30 minutes of gameless action.  It was newsworthy enough that even Saturday Night Live did a spoof of the situation:

The outage was also mentioned in a recent press release by the International Facility Management Association, in which IFMA President and CEO Tony Keane stated that "“The power outage at the Super Bowl is a high profile example of the importance of facility back up planning and risk management." While this particilar incident is reported to be traced back to a faulty electrical relay device, it highlights the importance of being prepared and having a backup plan.

Depco maintains a comprehensive inventory of both diesel and gas generator sets ready to provide the power that you need to run your operation or facility...even when the unexpected happens.
