As with many other countries, Europe has it's own unique regulatory guidelines.  Cummins Power Generation published this useful guide outlining the regulatory landscape in Europe.  This 8 page pdf report includes summaries of Directive 97/68/EC for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) and other directives such as National Emissions Ceiling (NEC) Directive and the Ambient Air Quality (AAQ) and Cleaner Air for Europe Directive.
