Oil and Ice: The Risks of Drilling in Alaska’s Arctic Ocean

Drilling for oil comes with as much great risk as it does reward. Whether we like it or not, we still depend on oil and natural gas in America. 

Yet, there is one large range of the United States which has been untouched by oil drilling—Alaska. Drilling in Alaska has been disputed for many years. Alaska is rich in energy reserve and has many regions which are full of crude oil deposits. However, there are extreme risks to drilling in Alaska mainly because it simply does not have the proper resources as other locations do to deal with a disaster if one should occur, leaving many people feeling apprehensive about the idea.
